Optus, which over the next two years will wind down its interest in the Virgin Mobile brand in Australia – has said it has a range of options and support for Virgin Mobile customers deciding to continue using its network.
Virgin Mobile retail stores will shortly begin closing their doors, with nearby Optus’ retail locations already prepared to provide service to any Virgin Mobile customers seeking in-store support.
With new Virgin Mobile service connections to stop being sold on 15 June, Optus network Virgin MD of marketing and product Ben White said mobile subs could continue to use their service in the same way they were used to.
“We have a special transition plan in place to make sure the impact to customers is minimal, and the experience they have during this time is a positive one,” he said.
Optus said it will offer Virgin Mobile customers specially tailored plans for those choosing to stay on the Optus network after Virgin Mobile closes its doors in Australia.
“To make things as easy as possible we are offering a range of great value plans suited to the way these customers are already using their mobile service on Optus’ premium, national mobile network,” said White.
