Shenzhen-based smartphone manufacturer Oppo has really set the bar when it comes to how affordable entry-level smartphones can be, with the release of the new Oppo AX5s at a recommended retail price of AU$299.

Despite the low price-point, the features haven’t been neglected. Along with a mirror exterior, the 6.2-inch LCD waterdrop screen integrated with an earpiece, camera and light sensor boasts a 89.35 per cent screen-to-body ratio.

The Oppo AX5s is powered by a 4230mAh battery, features 3GM RAM, and supports up to 13.5 hours of video playback.

It also comes with 13-megapixel and 2-megapixel dual rear cameras with multi-frame anti-shaking technology, plus an 8-megapixel with F2.0 aperture front facing selfie camera. Thanks to AI and big data technologies, the front camera offers personalised beautification options for the perfect portrait.

The AX5s has also been designed with the business person in mind as it features two new functions called the Smart Scan and Smart Bar.

Smart Scan has the ability to scan paper business cards into electronic versions, and can also covert images into editable texts. Meanwhile, Smart Bar is shortcut tool to allow users to quickly switch and multi-task between apps. Smart Bar can also be used to cut and screen recordings.

The Oppo AX5s is available in black or red and can be purchased outright through JB Hi-Fi, Telechoice, Yes Distribution and Mobileciti. It will also be available through Optus from April 29.
