EQUINIX ROLLS OUT ON-DEMAND INTERCONNECTION FOR SYDNEY, MELBOURNE MARKETS

Equinix is set to extend its Cloud Exchange Fabric capabilities to Melbourne and Sydney, following the announcement of the global launch of the service in December 2017.

The firm’s new inter-metro connectivity offering - which it recently also expanded into Japan - will be available in the Australian cities from later this month.

“[It] will enable customers to connect on-demand to any other ECX Fabric customer in Australia,” said Equinix which plans to expand it to Hong Kong and Singapore later in 2018.

Using ECX, previously known as Equinix Cloud Exchange, customers in Australia will be able to link up to any cloud service provider on ECX Fabric in Australia, including Alibaba Cloud, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, IBM Cloud, Microsoft Azure, Oracle cloud and SaaS providers like SAP.

“Having the ECX Fabric in Australia extends our ability to help customers benefit from the interconnections that are necessary for business success in today’s digital economy,” said Equinix Australia MD Jeremy Deutsch.

In addition to Australia and Japan, the new ECX Fabric inter-metro capabilities are available in all Equinix’s ECX Fabric locations in North America and the EMEA region, including Amsterdam, Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Dublin, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Geneva, Helsinki, London, Los Angeles, Manchester, Miami, Milan, Munich, New York, Paris, Seattle, Silicon Valley, Stockholm, Toronto, Washington, D.C. and Zurich.

ECX Fabric will be available in Denver later in 2018.
