Hughes Network System partners Eutelsat, Yahsat in global VSAT push

Hughes Network Systems has struck two partnerships aimed at bridging the global digital divide and delivering affordable, reliable Internet access to businesses and communities worldwide.

In partnership with Eutelsat Communications,  Hughes will supply its JUPITER System to enable services on Eutelsat’s KONNECT new-generation High-Throughput Satellite (HTS) for Western Europe and Africa

The JUPITER System is the next generation platform for very small aperture terminal (VSAT) networks, designed and optimized for broadband services over both high-throughput and conventional satellites.

Incorporating the wideband DVB-S2X industry standard and designed with a System on a Chip, the platform enables very high overall efficiency and fast packet processing rates.

The second partnership, a joint venture with key satellite operator Yahsat, will see Hughes providing commercial Ka-band satellite broadband services in Brazil, creating a strong value proposition to serve the growing market demand for a wide range of broadband services, including consumer Internet access, enterprise networks, cellular backhaul and community Wi-Fi hotspot services.
