Singapore-based Kacific Broadband Satellites Group’s first satellite is a high throughput satellite currently in production at Boeing’s El Segundo, California facility for satellite technology.

Kacific’s proposition is to deliver high-speed broadband for underserved, remote and rural markets with disseminated pockets of population. It addresses the gap in supply with specifically designed satellites using multi-beam and high throughput space communications and ground technology transmitting over the Ka-band.

According to the company, which is pushing its reach further across the Pacific markets – the craft is 75 percent through module level testing and about to move into the final phase of construction, after which it will undergo mechanical vibration and acoustic environmental testing.

“We’re looking forward to seeing the fully formed satellite and are regularly in touch with Boeing for progress updates,” said Kacific CTO Bob Perpall.

“Our team is counting down the months to service commencement. We are currently working with customers to help them prepare for the high-speed Ka-band broadband through installation of ground technology and developing tailored solutions for people and organisations in Asia Pacific, such as enterprise level broadband services and community-based WiFi solutions.”
