Juniper Networks, Nutanix join forces in improved network automation, security push

Juniper Networks and Nutanix are adding a raft of new initiatives to their existing partnership, aimed at simplifying enterprises’ migration to multicloud architectures, enabling network and security to interact as seamless partners with compute and storage.

“As enterprises transition to multi cloud environments, they need simplified and automated network management, as well as integrated and agile security,” said Juniper Networks.

To enable this, the companies are set to step up their collaboration to provide seamless integration between virtual and physical networks.

“The future of enterprise infrastructure is multi-cloud - that’s no longer up for debate,” said Nutanix VP of Product Management Raja Mukhopadhyay.  “Networking shouldn’t be the complex burden holding companies back from this transition, and that’s why we’re so committed to working with our partners like Juniper to offer our joint customers seamless, secure networking fit for the multi-cloud world.”

Specifically, the idea is for Juniper’s Contrail Enterprise Multicloud to integrate with Nutanix APIs to deliver improved  network visibility for virtualized workloads, ultimately facilitating automated fabric management.

Additionally, Juniper’s Unified Cybersecurity Platform together with Nutanix’s software-defined networking offering Flow, and AHV hypervisor, will be used to secure applications with micro segmentation in enterprise cloud, as well as provide a bolstered security posture to prevent lateral propagation of cyber threats.

According to Juniper Networks, enterprises will be able to roll out the vSRX integrated virtual firewall in their Nutanix environment, extending the same capability across multicloud architectures with a single point of control using vSRX on-premises and in AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform.
