Google, Rackspace forge first ANZ Google Cloud Platform partnership

Rackspace has inked a key partnership with Google Cloud, having been selected as the first managed services partner for Google Cloud Platform (GCP) for the ANZ region.

Rackspace said the new managed services offering for Google Cloud Platform customers, dubbed Rackspace Managed Services for Google Cloud Platform, would on the firms’ global partnership announced in March 2017.

“Increasingly, more ANZ businesses are moving to Google Cloud Platform to run critical workloads. Rackspace’s managed support services will offer GCP customers in Australia and New Zealand added cloud architecture support, onboarding, data migration expertise, as well as ongoing operational support for customers, to help ensure optimal cloud application performance,” Rackspace said.

Under the new partnership, GCP customers in the region will have access to Rackspace’s Customer Reliability Engineering (CRE) program and full Managed Security Services for GCP.

“This broad services portfolio, combined with Google Cloud’s leading embedded security capabilities, will deliver greater application reliability, resiliency, up time, as well as cloud security for enterprises,” Rackspace added.

Rackspace ANZ GM Darryn McCoskery said the strategic partnership with Google Cloud provided the Australian and New Zealand market with an “incredible cloud technology platform, giving them more choice than ever before.”

“We’re focused on helping organisations de-risk their digital and cloud transformation journeys by being trusted advisors.,” he said. “We are taking the cloud transformation burden off their hands, using our deep cloud expertise – and now GCP’s unique capabilities - to help businesses focus on driving business growth and efficiencies.”

“The launch of GCP in ANZ coincides perfectly with the expansion of our Google offering globally to deliver our new managed security and Custom Reliability Engineering (CRE) services for GCP,” said Patrick Lee, global vice president and general manager of Rackspace Managed Services for Google Cloud Platform.

“This is another major step towards jointly driving stronger innovation and expanding our reach to Google Cloud customers around the world.”
