Optus Business snaps up key Telecoms contract with Commonwealth Department of Health

The Australian Department of Health has appointed Optus Business as its whole-of-department telecommunications provider, striking a AS$6 million three-year agreement.

Optus Business will consolidate the Department’s telecommunication products and services under a single service agreement, in a bid to improve service delivery and ongoing contract management.

The agreement includes Wide Area Network (WAN) services for the Department of Health, and a range of services including mobile and voice to the Department’s 5,000 users.

“We look forward to working with the Department of Health to support their digitalisation and innovation agenda, through the provision of high performance infrastructure and ICT services,” said Optus Business MD John Paitaridis.

This new agreement with the Department of Health complements Optus’ long-standing partnerships with two of the Government’s largest departments, ATO and Department of Home Affairs.

“With our recent addition to the supplier panel for Department of Defence, Optus Business is now involved in supporting three of the four largest Government departments in Australia, reinforcing our position as a market leading telco and ICT provider,” said Paitaridis.
