MapR expands APAC leadership team

Santa Clara based business data specialist MapR Technologies is making a number of significant changes to its team running the business in the Asia-Pacific region.

The firm said the reshuffle was were driven by the growth of the business and the company’s need to be able to scale in order to better service the needs of clients in the region.

“The changes announced today are designed to help us accelerate the execution of our strategy, and serve our customers and partners better,” said Simon Dale, Vice President, Asia Pacific, MapR. “They will undoubtedly strengthen our ability to deliver strong financial performance, drive business growth, meet changing customer demands in how they manage their big data environments, and enable strategic innovation across our regional business.”

The organizational changes being implemented include:

Derek Judge taking on an expanded role as Senior Director, Alliances and Solution Engineering, APAC where he will now lead the Solution Engineering team in addition to Alliances & Channels. As APAC is a very partner-centric business, this combined role will allow him to drive more synergy with partners, while also helping to provide stronger regional leadership support to the Solution Engineering team.

The promotion of Scott Hubbard [pictured] to now become the Managing Director of MapR’s Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) business on the back of his success within business development roles with the company across the ANZ region. Prior to joining MapR, Scott also held sales management roles with Cloudera, Informatica and ASG.

“I’d like to thank the team for their support in allowing me to step up and take on the leadership role of our ANZ business,” said Scott Hubbard, Managing Director, Australia & New Zealand, MapR. “My challenge is now to ensure the recent successes in our business are translated into continuous growth and making MapR the big data partner and employer of choice here in ANZ.”

After successfully growing the Federal Government business in Australia, Mike Pamphilon has been appointed as the National sector lead for Government, as well as Resources and Energy, two significant areas of growth for MapR.

With the company experiencing high growth year-on-year, there are significant challenges for MapR to have the right skills in place to take advantage of these business opportunities and ensure the growth is aligned to company strategy and customer expectations. In addition to internal alignments, MapR is also expanding its partner network with the recent announcement of NextGen Distribution (http://www.nextgendistribution.com.au/) being added as the company’s first distributor in Australia & New Zealand.

The company is also looking for new talent to join the MapR team.
