TDL ROLLS OUT TECH PLATFORM FOR SHELLHARBOUR CIVIC CENTRE

Richmond, Victoria based IT and managed services provider Thomas Duryea Logicalis (TDL) has won a key contract with Shellharbour City Council, to deliver a new technology platform specifically designed for the New South Wales town’s civic centre.

The Civic Centre, which opened in January, features a city library, a museum, Council chambers and an administration centre – along with a Civic auditorium, meeting rooms and a cafe.

Under the contract, TDL as the Council’s technology partner, designed, built and deployed a technology platform which includes an on-premise datacentre, a backbone network as well as a wireless network.

“The project was a major undertaking, running two sites during the migration within a tight timeframe and budget,” said TDL CEO Michael Chanter.

Specifically, the datacentre is a hyper-converged service to replace the Council’s aging datacentre infrastructure, enabling Shellharbour to move to a hybrid cloud down track while maintaining a secure on-premise environment.

“The newly designed datacentre is housed on a dedicated floor in the civic centre and will deliver a flexible, easy to manage environment supported by a small in-house IT team,” said TDL, adding that the fibre backbone network provides high availability, reliability, redundancy, and secure access to all key locations within the facility.

The wireless network, meanwhile, provides 125 secure corporate access points for council staff, allowing them the flexibility of working throughout the building. “The network also offers access to secure, wireless networks for visitors and guests to the new building, as well as free wireless access to the general public in the immediate surrounds of the civc centre,” said TDL.
