Speedcast International has appointed Caroline van Scheltinga as an independent non-executive director of the firm’s Board of Directors, effective immediately.

Ms van Scheltinga has over 23 years of investment banking experience at top global firms. She is currently the chairman and CEO at Waterloo Investment Holdings – a Boston Scientific Corporporation listed holding company operating across several sectors and with assets in the Caribbean and Latin America.

Prior to joining WIHL, van Scheltinga held managing director positions at Jefferies & Company, Lehman Brothers and Credit Suisse in New York.

“We are delighted to have Caroline join the Speedcast Board,” said Speedcast MD John Mackay. “Her extensive experience in M&A, capital raising and complex cross-border transactions will be invaluable to us at Speedcast as we strengthen our position as the leading satellite services provider globally.”

“I know she will make an outstanding contribution to our business and I look forward to her advice and guidance as Speedcast moves into the next stage of its global development,” said Speedcast CEO Pierre-Jean Beyier. “In addition to Caroline’s relevant industry expertise as a telecom banker, her experience operating in emerging markets in the Caribbean and Latin America will be particularly valuable.”
