Microsoft is the first global cloud provider to be awarded a Certification for Protected data in Australia.
Specifically, Microsoft Azure and Office 365 were approved for the certification by the Australian Signals Directorate and to be included in the Certified Cloud Services List (CCSL).
Microsoft – which billed the move as a major milestone – said it had been working in partnership with Government since 2014. “[The deal] unleashes an enormous digital transformation opportunity across the public sector in both Australia and New Zealand.”
The news followed an earlier announcement around the availability of Azure Australia Central, two new Microsoft Azure cloud regions located within highly secure, resilient, Australian-owned facilities of Canberra Data Centres. These regions are specifically designed to support mission-critical demands of government and critical national infrastructure.
