Quartet of new offerings for Polycom Trio conference room ‘smartphone’

Polycom has added Microsoft Teams capabilities, Zoom controller technology and a native Amazon Alexa experience to its Trio conference phone product.
The device - which Polycom billed as ‘the first smartphone for the conference room’ - and ‘the fastest selling phone in the company’s history’ is now also available for use with BlueJeans’ new meeting platform.
The added support for Microsoft Teams, which sees Trio running the Teams app for phones to provide a consistent user experience for meetings and calling, is a continuation of a long-running partnership with Microsoft, said Polycom.
The vendor is also extending its collaboration with Amazon, with Trio using Alexa Voice Services to deliver a native Amazon Alexa experience on the device. Polycom said the collaboration between Amazon and Polycom ensured that customers could access all of the Alexa features from their Trio without the need to deploy any additional hardware.
Also added to the Trio is Zoom video communications software, enabling the Trio to act as speakerphone and controller for the Zoom Rooms software-based video conference room system.
Tony Simonsen, Polycom Australia, New Zealand, Japan and Korea vice president, said Trio was being used by Australian and New Zealand organisations to accelerate digital transformation within meeting rooms.
“Take MYOB, a leading provider of business management solutions and accounting software, as one example. They chose Polycom Trio to create a more agile meeting environment for employees regardless of location,” Simonsen said. “Trio has enabled them to deliver HD content sharing and live video interaction into space where it wasn’t available before.”
Polycom said the Trio was being used in about 57% of Fortune 100 companies.
